description As a result of the introspective diagnosis and the observation and understanding of the situation framework of Industrial Organization subject (first year of the Industrial Engineering career), the teaching team developed an action plan to improve the insertion, retention and understanding of curricular design in general, and the concept of productivity in particular by students, because it is a core topic for the rest of the career and is the basis for the optimization of the processes of production of goods or generation of services, both in the public, private or mixed field. As a result, we worked on the redesign of the study material for the concept of productivity, on practical work and theoretical practical classroom activities, in order to improve the didactic transposition of the topic and its application in the professional field. Although, based on the results obtained, there is still better performance in the reference theme in the 2016 cohort compared to 2018, the recovery of this index is encouraging compared to 2017 and, consequently, encourages continuing with a process similar to the aims to gradually increase student performance based on the scaffolding of the concept of reference. It is possible to affirm that the didactic transposition has not only improved, but also, it has allowed the teaching team to understand teaching methodologies that without neglecting the technical nature of the concept, invite to develop the teaching work with focus on the public that transits for the subject Industrial Organization in particular, and for the first years of the Industrial Engineering career in general.
