This article details the debates and decisions of an interdisciplinary workshop with participants from 5 countries focused on the development of the atlas. The Au- gust 2017 PAIGH funded workshop in Colombia identified objectives, theoretical framework, methodology, territorial reach, units of analysis, selected themes, technical framework, and a work plan. The target audience includes a broad pub- lic with a particular focus on young people and policy makers and the overarching objective of creating a stronger understanding of the problems, challenges, and opportunities associated with climate change. The article also seeks to raise awareness of the complex steps needed to plan a project of this size. Investigadores vinculados con el Instituto Panamericano de Geografía e Historia (IPGH) vienen impulsando un proyecto para desarrollar el Atlas del Cambio Cli- mático de las Américas (ACCA). Este artículo se refiere a los debates y las deci- siones de un taller interdisciplinario con participación de ciudadanos de cinco países para enfocarse en el desarrollo del atlas. El taller realizado en Colombia, en agosto de 2017, y apoyado por el IPGH, identificó los objetivos, enfoques teóri- cos y metodológicos, así como el alcance territorial y las unidades de análisis, los temas previstos, el entorno tecnológico para el Atlas y el plan general de avance. La audiencia incluye un público amplio con un enfoque particular en los usuarios jóvenes y tomadores de decisiones, con fines de propiciar un vínculo mayor con los problemas, retos y oportunidades asociados al cambio climático.
