El Angry Young Man o joven airado es un tópico destacado en el teatro británico de la segunda posguerra. Su impacto se atribuyó principalmente a las obras de corte realista pero también tuvo influencia en otras tradiciones escénicas. En esta oportunidad revisamos la presencia de dicho tópico en la producción del dramaturgo Peter Shaffer y su última pieza estrenada. Sostenemos que Shaffer desmantela la figura del Angry Young Man en The Gift of the Gorgon, operación que lo confronta con una tradición teatral pero también que le permite revisar algunos elementos de su propia producción.
