The study examines the Constitutional Court as the guarantor of meaning and addresses ruling SU-214 of 2016 as an example of dilemmas between textual coherence and dynamic adaptation. Methodologically, it applies a hermeneutic approach based on Saussure, Peirce, Dworkin, and recent contributions (2021–2025). The results show that interpretations detached from the semantic framework create risks of arbitrariness. It concludes by proposing criteria that combine coherence and flexibility to ensure a rigorous and legitimate constitutional law. Este artículo analiza la interpretación de los signos constitucionales en Colombia desde una perspectiva de la semiótica, enfocándose en la tensión entre originalismo y la teoría de la Constitución viviente. El estudio se basa en la Corte Constitucional como el garante del sentido de la Carta Constitucional y examina el caso de la sentencia SU-214 de 2016 como ejemplo de los dilemas entre la coherencia textual y la adaptación dinámica. Metodológicamente, se ha empleado un enfoque hermenéutico apoyado en Saussure, Peirce, Dworkin y otros autores cuyos aportes son más recientes (2021–2025). Los resultados muestran que las interpretaciones alejadas del marco semántico generan riesgos de arbitrariedad. Además, se concluye en forma de proposición criterios que articulen la coherencia y la flexibilidad para un derecho constitucional riguroso y legítimo.
