| Sumario: | Here, I pretend to show that Republic offers, in its tenth book, some guidelines in order to shape an adequate psychic structure in the members of the producing class and thus approximate them to a just life. In the first part, I summarize the central aspects of the psychic theory and the virtuous life established by Plato in this dialogue. In the second part, I examine the presence of two guidelines, one of them negative (the critique of the current education), the other one positive (the assessment of the productive art), both suggest the way in which the producer, who belongs neither to the ruling nor to the warrior class, approaches to a virtuous life. |
