| Sumario: | After a brief introduction with some information about Gabriela Laperrière de Coni (Pezens, 1861 - Buenos Aires, 1907) and a typology of her work, this article offers a reading of Flor del aire. Novela argentina (2025). Written in French and published in Paris in 1900 as Fleur de l´air. Roman argentin, this novel has remained in archives, largely unexamined by specialized critics, and awaits a Spanish translation. Little read by specialized critics, it has been considered a sentimental and historical-political novel. Focusing on its characterizations of Argentinians and French, its exploration of medical notions (particularly the spirit-matter dichotomy), and its depiction of violence against 'colonos' during the 1893 Santa Fe revolts, the article argues that Flor del aire elucidates the conflictive assimilation process of settlers into local culture and their struggle to legitimize their integration into their new homeland, Argentina. |
