| Sumario: | In recent years, spaces for male activism have proliferated—driven by women and gender-diverse individuals—where men have begun to question their privileges and, somewhat bewilderedly, started to adopt feminist ideals. These male organizations (some within political parties, labor unions, academic settings, gender activism, andcommunity organizations) aim to promote a set of actions designed to engage other men in reflecting on the importance of deconstructing hegemonic masculinities. Although these men recognize “gender” as a social construct, they often fail to grasp the performative dimension of masculinity in their political practices. This article offers a theoretical review and analyzes in-depth interviews with activists who participate in male spacesthat advocate for gender equality. |
