The objective was to help improve the experience and management of waste—promoting citizen awareness—by transferring academic learning to a local case study. A Human-Centered Design methodology was employed, carried out by 15 student teams of three members each. Initial findings revealed mismatches in the use and treatment of incoming waste and limited public awareness of the impact of household waste management. The resulting projects strengthen professional training, generate solution proposals for the identified problems, and reinforce the university-community connection. El trabajo presenta un proyecto académico de extensión de educación experiencial, desarrollado en la carrera de Licenciatura en Diseño Industrial en la Asociación Civil Dignidad y Vida Sana, situada en el Complejo Ambiental de la ciudad de Santa Fe. Se trazó el objetivo de contribuir a la mejora en la experiencia y gestión de residuos, propiciando la concientización ciudadana, a través de la transferencia de aprendizajes académicos en un caso de estudio local. Se empleó la metodología de Diseño Centrado en las Personas, desplegadas por 15 equipos de estudiantes constituidos por 3 integrantes. Los hallazgos iniciales mostraron desajustes en el aprovechamiento de desechos recibidos, tratamiento y la reducida concientización ciudadana respecto al impacto en la gestión doméstica de sus residuos. Los proyectos resultantes potencian la formación profesional, generan propuestas de solución a los problemas detectados y refuerzan la vinculación universidad-comunidad.
