To do so, we rely on data that comes, on the one hand, from a research that explored students' perspectives on teaching and learning practices in secondary school and their relationship with the meanings that the school experience assumes for them. On the other hand, we compare these findings with results from a study in which we explored the teachers' perspective about their work experience, through the development of workshops with secondary school teachers. The intersection of these perspectives highlights the importance assigned to the personalization of the bonds between teachers and students in the configuration of their school experiences. Building a personal relationship of knowledge, trust, and mutual respect is presented as the basis and necessary condition for motivating and contributing to engagement in school tasks and for building legitimacy for teacher authority. In this article, we reflect on the importance assigned to this affective dimension and on possible labor effects for teachers that could arise from these requirements for personal involvement and commitment to each student. En este artículo examinamos la importancia del vínculo entre docentes y estudiantes en la configuración de sus experiencias escolares. Para ello nos basamos en datos que proceden, por un lado, de una investigación que exploró la mirada de los estudiantes acerca de las prácticas de enseñanza y aprendizaje en la escuela secundaria y su relación con los sentidos que asume para ellos la experiencia escolar. Por otro lado, comparamos esos hallazgos con resultados de un estudio en el que exploramos la perspectiva docente acerca de su experiencia de trabajo, mediante el desarrollo de talleres con profesores de escuelas secundarias. En el entrecruzamiento de estas perspectivas, se destaca la importancia asignada a la personalización de los vínculos entre profesores y estudiantes en la configuración de sus experiencias escolares. La construcción de una relación personal de conocimiento, confianza y respeto mutuo, se presenta como base y condición necesaria para motivar y contribuir al involucramiento en las tareas escolares, y para construir legitimidad de la autoridad docente. En el artículo reflexionamos sobre la importancia asignada a esta dimensión afectiva y sobre posibles efectos laborales para los docentes, que podrían derivarse de estos requerimientos de implicación y compromiso personal con cada estudiante.
