Between 2004 and 2005, she maintained a blog called Primera tormenta, where she periodically published poems, most of which centered on gender-based violence and femicide. This article focuses on reading her texts as feminist interventions in a dual sense: as a denunciation of the crimes and violence endured by Mexican women, and second, as effort to make visible and affirm alternative ways of being a woman –ways that have been denied, silenced, or persecuted by patriarchal culture. Also, we explore the connections Chávez's poetry establishes with testimonial writing and the field of social memories, particularly in relation to issues that remain pressing in Latin America today.
