The research focuses on water vulnerability and the effects of informal urbanization, using a qualitative approach that includes observation, interviews, and satellite image analysis. Since the 1990s, the spontaneous growth of the neighborhood has led to infrastructure problems and increased exposure to flooding. The objectives are to identify vulnerable areas and households at risk through the use of the Normalized Difference Water Index [NDWI] and the Digital Elevation Model [DEM], proposing guidelines to improve and organize the territory. Este trabajo, realizado en el marco del Seminario de Geografía Regional, correspondiente al plan de estudios de la Licenciatura en Geografía de la Facultad de Humanidades de la Universidad Nacional del Nordeste [UNNE], en la provincia del Chaco, analiza las características socioambientales del barrio La Rubita, ubicado en el Área Metropolitana del Gran Resistencia, Chaco, durante el año 2024. La investigación se enfoca en la vulnerabilidad hídrica y los efectos de la urbanización informal, utilizando un enfoque cualitativo que incluye observación, entrevistas y análisis de imágenes satelitales. Desde la década de 1990, el crecimiento espontáneo del barrio ha generado problemas de infraestructura y una mayor exposición a anegamientos. Los objetivos son identificar zonas vulnerables y hogares en riesgo mediante el uso del Índice de Diferencia Normalizada del Agua [NDWI] y el Modelo Digital de Elevación [DEM], proponiendo lineamientos para mejorar y organizar el territorio.
