If not detected in time, they can progress to complete tibial fractures, which in most cases leads to equine euthanasia. Historically, nuclear scintigraphy has been the imaging modality of choice for the diagnosis of tibial stress fractures; however, it is a complex and expensive method and is not available in many countries. A preliminary, descriptive and retrospective study was conducted on 12 horses with an ultrasonographic diagnosis compatible with tibial stress fractures. The objective was to describe the use of B-Mode (BM) and Power Doppler (PD) ultrasonography for the diagnosis of tibial stress fractures in TB, between 2 and 3 years old, of both sexes, all with a history of acute pelvic limbs lameness. Ultrasonographic evaluations in MB and DP were always performed by the same operator using a portable ultrasound machine. Images compatible with incomplete stress fractures were obtained in 10/12 horses, and complete displaced tibial stress fractures were found in 2/12 of the horses evaluated. BM ultrasound combined with PD proved to be an accessible and effective method to visualize changes compatible with stress fractures on the cortical surface of the tibia in the horses under study. Las fracturas por estrés de la tibia son causa frecuente de claudicación de los miembros pelvianos en los Sangre Pura de Carrera (SPC) jóvenes; si no se detectan a tiempo, pueden progresar a fracturas completas, lo que lleva en la mayoría de los casos a la eutanasia del equino. Históricamente, la gammagrafía nuclear ha sido la modalidad de imagen de elección para el diagnóstico de las fracturas por estrés de la tibia; sin embargo, es un método complejo, muy costoso, que no está disponible en muchos países. Se realizó un estudio preliminar, descriptivo y retrospectivo de 12 caballos con diagnóstico ecográfico compatible con fracturas por estrés de la tibia. El objetivo fue describir el uso de la ultrasonografía en Modo B (MB) y con Doppler de Poder (DP) para el diagnóstico de fracturas por estrés de la tibia en SPC, de entre 2 y 3 años, de ambos sexos, todos con antecedente de claudicación aguda de los miembros pelvianos. Las evaluaciones ultrasonográficas en MB y DP fueron realizadas siempre por el mismo operador utilizando un ecógrafo portátil. Se obtuvieron imágenes compatibles con fractura de estrés incompleta en 10/12 equinos y fractura por estrés completa desplazada de tibia en 2/12 de los equinos evaluados. La ecografía en MB asociada a DP demostró ser un método accesible y eficaz que permitió visualizar cambios compatibles con fracturas por estrés en la superficie cortical de la tibia en los caballos en estudio.
