During the COVID-19 pandemic, this immersion intensified and amplified, revealing the diversity of strategies and resources that young people deploy to learn and solve problems in their daily lives. It is identified that both the relationships with knowledge that take place in school and outside of it configure personal learning environments that allow them to advance in the construction of knowledge. In this paper we propose to characterize how young people build personal learning environments with digital tools, especially how such management allows us to glimpse the potential emergence of a new subject of knowledge. The role of YouTube audiovisual contents in the personal learning environments of students enrolled in a computer science university course in Argentina is characterized in a central way. Using a quantitative methodology, 233 surveys were conducted. The main findings indicate, on the one hand, that in addition to being entertained on YouTube, the students surveyed find and configure a diversity of answers to their main interests and student problems. On the other hand, both the channels they use and the resources managed there allow complex cognitive processes, such as abstracting and problem solving, among others. El aprendizaje en las personas jóvenes está relacionado cada vez más a múltiples pantallas. Durante la pandemia por covid-19, esa inmersión se intensificó y amplificó, dejando al descubierto la diversidad de estrategias y recursos que despliegan las juventudes para aprender y resolver problemáticas de su vida cotidiana. Se identifica que tanto las relaciones con el saber que se tienden en la escuela como fuera de ella configuran entornos personales de aprendizaje que les permiten avanzar en la construcción de conocimientos. En este trabajo se propone caracterizar cómo los jóvenes construyen entornos personales de aprendizaje con herramientas digitales, sobre todo cómo dicha gestión permite entrever la potencial emergencia de un nuevo sujeto del conocimiento. De manera central, se caracteriza el papel que tienen los contenidos audiovisuales de YouTube en los entornos personales de aprendizaje de ingresantes a una carrera universitaria de computación en Argentina. A partir de una metodología cuantitativa, se realizaron 233 encuestas. Los principales hallazgos indican, por un lado, que en YouTube, además de entretenerse, los estudiantes encuestados encuentran y configuran una diversidad de respuestas a sus principales intereses y problemáticas estudiantiles. Por otro lado, tanto los canales que utilizan como los recursos que allí se gestionan permiten procesos cognitivos complejos, como abstraer y resolver problemas, entre otros.
