Sumario:The water bodies in the Western Peripampean Undefined DrainageZone (ZDIOP), located in a region of low morphogenetic energy, exhibit spatial variability linked to fluctuations in precipitation. In this area of the Pampas plain, lentic water bodies are subject to alternating wet and dry periods, leading toboth instances of flooding and an increase in water-covered surface, as well asdrought episodes that reduce their extent. This study aims to analyze the spatialvariability of these water bodies. A historical collection of Landsat images from1986 to 2024 was used, employing the NDWI spectral index and climate dataderived from the SPEI. As a result, the period 2008–2009 was identified as the mostcritical in terms of severe droughts, while 1997 and 2016 were characterized bymoderate to intense humidity levels.
