In this area of the Pampas plain,lentic water bodies are subject to alternating wet and dry periods, leading toboth instances of flooding and an increase in water-covered surface, as well asdrought episodes that reduce their extent. This study aims to analyze the spatialvariability of these water bodies. A historical collection of Landsat images from1986 to 2024 was used, employing the NDWI spectral index and climate dataderived from the SPEI. As a result, the period 2008–2009 was identified as the mostcritical in terms of severe droughts, while 1997 and 2016 were characterized bymoderate to intense humidity levels. Los cuerpos de agua en la Zona de Drenaje Indefinida Occidental Peripampeano (ZDIOP), ubicados en una región de baja energía morfogenética, exhiben una variabilidad espacial vinculada a las fluctuaciones en las precipitaciones. En esta área de la llanura pampeana, los cuerpos lénticos están sujetos a la alternancia de períodos húmedos y secos, lo que ocasiona tanto instancias de inundaciones y un aumento en la superficie cubierta por agua, como momentos de sequía y reducción de dicha superficie. El objetivo de este trabajo es analizar la variabilidad espacial de los cuerpos de agua. Se trabajó con la colección histórica de imágenes Landsat para el periodo 1986-2024, utilizando el índice espectral NDWI y datos climáticos derivados del SPEI. De forma, se identificó al periodo 2008-2009 como el más crítico en cuanto a sequias intensas; mientras que 1997 y 2016 como periodo con una humedad moderada a intensa.
