Eighteen studentsand four instructors were interviewed. All interviewswere audio-recorded, transcribed verbatim, and analyzed using ATLAS.ti version 23 software, following thematic content analysis. The factors influencing themanagement and clinical reasoning in pulp therapy ofprimary teeth were identified, along with the errors relatedto child behavior, radiographic taking and interpretation,instrumentation, communication difficulties, anesthesia application, working length, rubber dam isolation, and obturation. Dental students face multiple challenges in the pulp therapy of primary teeth, which affect their performance in providing dental care to pediatric patients.

La terapia pulpar en dientes primarios representa un desafío en la práctica clínica de los estudiantes de odontología. Comprender las experiencias de los estudiantes y docentes en este campo es fundamental para mejorar la formación odontológica. El objetivo fue caracterizar los fenómenos asociados con los estudiantes de odontología y su experiencia de aprendizaje en la práctica clínica de terapia pulpar en dientes primarios y la perspectiva de docentes de clínica de odontopediatría. Se realizó un estudio cualitativo. Se entrevistó a 18 estudiantes y 4 docentes. Todas las entrevistas fueron grabadas en audio, transcritas textualmente y analizadas con el software ATLAS.ti versión 23, siguiendo el análisis de contenido según la temática. Se identificaron los factores que influyen en el manejo y razonamiento clínico en terapia pulpar de dientes primarios y los errores que se evidencian relacionados con el comportamiento del niño, toma e interpretación radiográfica, instrumentación, dificultades en la comunicación, aplicación de anestesia, longitud de trabajo, aislamiento absoluto y obturación. Los estudiantes de odontología enfrentan múltiples desafíos en la terapia pulpar de dientes primarios, los cuales, afectan el desempeño en la atención odontológica del paciente pediátrico. A terapia pulpar em dentes decíduos representa um desafio na prática clínica dos estudantes de odontologia;compreender as experiências de estudantes e professoresnesta área é essencial para melhorar a formaçãoodontológica. O objetivo foi caracterizar os fenômenosassociados aos estudantes de odontologia e sua experiência de aprendizagem na prática clínica da terapiapulpar em dentes decíduos e a perspectiva dos professoresda clínica odontopediatria. Foi realizado um estudoqualitativo. Foram entrevistados 18 alunos e 4 professores.Todas as entrevistas foram gravadas em áudio,transcritas na íntegra e analisadas no software ATLAS.ti versão 23, após análise de conteúdo por tema. Foramidentificados os fatores que influenciam o manejo e o raciocínio clínico na terapia pulpar de dentes decíduos e os erros que ficam evidentes relacionados ao comportamento da criança, realização e interpretação radiográfica, superinstrumentação, dificuldades de comunicação, aplicação de anestesia, tempo de trabalho, absoluto.isolamento e vedação. Os estudantes de odontologiaenfrentam múltiplos desafios na terapia pulpar de dentesdecíduos, que afetam o desempenho no atendimentoodontológico de pacientes pediátricos.
