Rowling This article explores the way in which monsters are depicted in J. K. Rowling’s stories from Wizarding World. It contributes to the discussions on the subject by giving a thematic perspective which takes into consideration which takes into consideration the relationships configured within the fictional world itself, its intern rules and axiology. The methodology is based on an articulation of both quantitative and qualitative techniques. Firstly, a survey was carried out in order to identify the lexical forms which were used in these stories to name different groups of beings. With those initial results in mind, we set for a qualitative analysis that takes into consideration factors such as: worldbuilding, character construction, ethical and political aspects. Our study shows that these stories displace the idea of monstrosity: instead of identifying features in non-human characters, it moves towards the representation of human characters. Therefore, it is argued that these stories discuss the construction of otherness and rights within the fictional world. Este trabajo explora el modo en que se trabaja la figura del monstruo en las obras de J. K. Rowling ubicadas dentro de la continuidad ficcional del Wizarding World. Se aporta una mirada tematológica que considera las relaciones configuradas dentro del propio mundo ficcional, con reglas y axiologías específicas. La metodología articula técnicas cuantitativas y cualitativas del análisis del discurso. En primer lugar, se recurre al relevamiento de las formas discursivas empleadas en estas narraciones para nombrar a diferentes grupos de seres; a partir de los resultados se realiza un análisis cualitativo que pone en consideración diferentes aspectos de estas historias: construcción de personajes y mundo, aspectos políticos y éticos de la diégesis. El análisis muestra que en estos relatos la monstruosidad se desplaza: en lugar de identificar a las criaturas no humanas en forma rotunda, estas ficciones deslizan la monstruosidad al terreno de la representación de personajes humanos.
