This work presents the implementation of a teaching sequence related to balancing chemical equations, using an interactive simulation of the PhET site at the University of Colorado. It was developed in a first-year Applied Chemistry course of the Technological Education Faculty of the José Manuel Estrada Teacher Training Institute in Corrientes. The students  interacted easily with the simulation but had difficulties developing conceptual arguments from the interactive processes displayed. En el marco de un proyecto de investigación basada en el diseño, se elaboran distintas secuencias didácticas de física y química para los niveles secundario y superior, que incorporan las TIC como recurso didáctico. Este trabajo presenta la implementación de una secuencia de  enseñanza referida al balanceo de ecuaciones químicas, usando una simulación interactiva del sitio PhET de la Universidad de Colorado. La misma se desarrolló en un curso de Química Aplicada de primer año del Profesorado en Educación Tecnológica del Instituto de Formación Docente José Manuel Estrada de Corrientes. Los estudiantes interactuaron fácilmente con la simulación pero presentaron dificultades para elaborar argumentaciones conceptuales a partir de los procesos interactivos visualizados.
