It presents a theoretical review and preliminary advances of two case studies: the “City-Region of Gran Corrientes” and the “City-Region of Formosa Capital”. Both capitals have experienced an accelerated process of growth and territorial expansion in recent decades, configuring complex territories, with interconnected spaces, very different from each other, which have blurred the boundaries between urban and rural. The methodology is qualitative-quantitative, based on bibliographic review and documentary and spatial analysis. The results contribute to revitalize territorial planning in the Argentinian Northeast. El artículo analiza las capitales del Nordeste argentino a la luz del concepto de Ciudad-región. Expone una revisión teórica y avances preliminares de dos casos de estudio: la “Ciudad-Región del Gran Corrientes” y la “Ciudad-Región Formosa Capital”. Ambas capitales han experimentado un acelerado proceso de crecimiento y expansión territorial en las últimas décadas, configurando territorios complejos, con espacios interconectados, muy diferentes entre ellos, que han desdibujado los límites entre lo urbano y lo rural. La metodología es cuali-cuantitativa, basada en revisión bibliográfica y análisis documental y espacial.
