An experimental study was conducted with 60 samples, including 30 from microhybrid resin Opallis (FGM®) and 30 from nanohybrid Brilliant NG (Coltene®). Color measurements were taken using a spectrophotometer before immersion in water and pigmenting substances and after 14 days. Water absorption was evaluated by weighing the samples on a precision scale before immersion, at 24 hours, 7 days, and 14 days. Discs of Brilliant NG resin exhibited lower mean values of water absorption compared to Opallis resin. Carbonated beverages showed the highest water absorption, as compared to coffee and distilled water, while coffee resulted in the highest disc pigmentation. Although no statistically significant differences were found, it can be concluded that nanohybrid Brilliant NG resin has a lower capacity for water absorption and pigmentation compared to microhybrid Opallis resin. |

Las resinas compuestas están expuestas a variaciones de color y absorción de agua lo que puede causar la degradación hidrolítica del relleno estimulando el crecimiento de bacterias. El objetivo de este trabajo fue evaluar la absorción de agua y variación de color de los discos de resina de diferente tamaño de partículas de relleno, luego de su exposición a bebidas de consumo habitual. Se realizó un estudio experimental con 60 muestras, 30 correspondientes a la resina microhíbrida Opallis (FGM®) y nanohíbrida Brilliant NG (Coltene®). La medición del color se realizó con un espectrofotómetro antes de ser sumergidas en agua y en las sustancias pigmentantes, y a los 14 días. Mientras que la absorción de agua se evaluó utilizando una báscula de precisión, pesando las muestras antes de sumergirlas en agua y luego, a las 24 horas, 7 días y 14 días. Se pudo observar que los discos correspondientes a la resina Brilliant NG obtuvieron valores medios menores de absorción de agua en comparación con los valores medios de la resina Opallis; la sustancia en la cual se obtuvo la mayor absorción de agua fue la gaseosa, en comparación con el café y el agua destilada, y la sustancia en la cual los discos obtuvieron mayor pigmento fue el café. Aunque no se encontró diferencia estadísticamente significativa se puede concluir que la resina nanohíbrida Brilliant NG posee una menor capacidad de absorción de agua y pigmentación que la resina microhíbrida Opallis. As resinas compostas estão sujeitas a variações de cor e absorção de água, o que pode resultar na degradação hidrolítica das partículas de carga, estimulando o crescimento de bactérias. O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar a absorção de água e a variação de cor dos discos de resina com diferentes tamanhos de partículas de carga após exposição a bebidas de consumo habitual. Foi realizado um estudo experimental com 60 amostras, 30 correspondentes à resina microhíbrida Opallis (FGM®) e 30 à resina nanohíbrida Brilliant NG (Coltene®). A medição da cor foi feita com um espectrofotómetro antes de serem imersas em água e em substâncias pigmentantes e após 14 dias. A absorção de água foi avaliada por meio de uma balança de precisão, pesando as amostras antes da imersão e novamente após 24 horas, 7 dias e 14 dias. Os resultados demonstraram que os discos da resina Brilliant NG apresentaram valores médios de absorção de água inferiores em comparação com os discos da resina Opallis. Entre as substâncias testadas, o refrigerante exibiu a maior absorção de água, seguido pelo café e água destilada, enquanto o café causou a maior pigmentação dos discos. Embora não tenha sido encontrada diferença estatisticamente significativa, pode-se concluir que a resina nanohíbrida Brilliant NG apresenta menor capacidade de absorção de água e pigmentação em comparação com a resina microhíbrida Opallis.
