However, prior to this provision, several producers had already implemented them and even certified them. The objective of this work is to address the situation in which the differentiation of fruit and vegetable production in the district of General Pueyrredon was prior to the aforementioned obligation, identifying the profile of the producers involved and the motivation that guided them on that path. For the approach, qualitative methodological techniques are selected, combining various sources and procedures. The results at the local level made it possible to identify farms that differentiated and certified their production until 2020, with producers coexisting in different stages of the process. The reasons for adopting the differentiation of their crops lie largely in the motivation that guided them and in the destination of the production. En sintonía con las nuevas demandas del mercado agroalimentario, a partir de los años 2020 y 2021, para la producción frutícola y hortícola respectivamente, entró en vigencia en Argentina la obligatoriedad de implementación de las Buenas Prácticas Agrícolas. No obstante, con anterioridad a dicha disposición, varios productores ya las implementaban e incluso, certificaban. El objetivo de este trabajo es abordar en qué situación se encontraba la diferenciación de la producción frutihortícola del partido de General Pueyrredon previo a la obligatoriedad mencionada, identificando el perfil de los productores involucrados y las razones que los guiaron en ese camino. Para el abordaje se seleccionaron técnicas metodológicas de tipo cualitativo, combinando diversas fuentes y procedimientos. Los resultados a nivel local, permitieron identificar explotaciones que diferenciaban y certificaban su producción hasta el 2020, coexistiendo productores en distintos estadios del proceso. Las razones de adoptar la diferenciación de sus cultivos radican mayormente en las mayores exigencias por parte de los mercados de destino de la producción.
