Sumario:The paper explores the different strategies for the creation of neologism in the Qom language. Based on corpus collected from secondary sources (web pages, dictionaries, manuals) and elicitation with a native speaker, the different morphosyntactic and semantic aspects involved in the creation of new words were analyzed from a typological perspective (Díaz Hormigo, 2020; Haspelmath y Tadmor, 2009), taking into account some contributions of cognitive linguistics (Fernández Jaen, 2014; Romero Gualda, 2008) and focusing on the metaphor and metonymy as mechanisms to form neologisms. Previous studies about word formation in Qom were considered (Messineo, 2003; Censabella, 2005; Cúneo, 2013). This article is a contribution from the description of an indigenous language to the studies about neology.
