Based on corpus collected from secondary sources (web pages, dictionaries, manuals) and elicitation with a native speaker, the different morphosyntactic and semantic aspects involved in the creation of new words were analyzed from a typological perspective (Díaz Hormigo, 2020; Haspelmath y Tadmor, 2009), taking into account some contributions of cognitive linguistics (Fernández Jaen, 2014; Romero Gualda, 2008) and focusing on the metaphor and metonymy as mechanisms to form neologisms. Previous studies about word formation in Qom were considered (Messineo, 2003; Censabella, 2005; Cúneo, 2013). This article is a contribution from the description of an indigenous language to the studies about neology. El presente trabajo explora las distintas estrategias para la creación de neologismos en lengua qom. A partir de un corpus recolectado de fuentes secundarias (páginas web, diccionarios, manuales) y mediante la elicitación con un hablante nativo, se analizaron los aspectos morfosintácticos y semánticos para la formación de nuevas palabras desde una perspectiva tipológica (Díaz Hormigo, 2020; Haspelmath y Tadmor, 2009), teniendo en cuenta algunos aportes de la lingüística cognitiva (Fernández Jaén, 2014; Romero Gualda, 2008); con foco en la metáfora y la metonimia como mecanismos para la neología. Se tuvieron en cuenta como antecedentes los estudios sobre formación de palabras en la lengua qom (Messineo, 2003; Censabella, 2005; Cúneo, 2013).
