In an attempt to address these inquiries, adopting the theoretical framework of anthropological linguistics, the notion of identity will be explored, considering that this community is deeply marked by historical processes of violence and repression. El presente artículo focaliza en la comunidad qom de Colonia Aborigen Chaco, Argentina. En particular, interesa exponer ciertas reflexiones sobre el valor de la lengua qom como emblema identitario para este grupo indígena. Al respecto, nos preguntamos: ¿cómo opera la lengua qom en Colonia Aborigen Chaco?, ¿qué relación presenta la lengua con la identidad qom? Para intentar dar respuesta a los interrogantes planteados y adoptando el marco teórico de la lingüística antropológica, se abordará la noción de identidad, considerando que se trata de una comunidad fuertemente marcada por procesos históricos de violencia y represión.
