This work evaluates the seasonal thermal behavior of Traditional Green Facades (FVT), as in the environments as exterior and interior surfaces in cities of arid zones. Methodologically, an experimental trial was developed under controlled conditions consisting of three masonry walls, two of them with vegetation cover and one without any type of coverage, all facing west and isolated to the north, south and east. Meteorological variables —outdoor and indoor ambient temperature, and exterior and interior surface temperature— were monitored during two periods of seven days in winter and summer 2021-2022. The results obtained show temperature variations in the walls with vegetation cover regard to the control wall. They reach magnitudes of increase in winter indoor ambient temperature of up to 0.8 °C, reductions in summer of up to 4.4 °C, and decreases of average outdoor ambient temperature up to 3.9 °C in warm season. This shows the effectiveness of a strategy of minimum technological complexity to improve the thermal behavior of spaces and contribute to residential energy efficiency and the reduction of temperatures on an urban scale in cities with an arid climate. |

Este trabajo evalúa el comportamiento térmico estacional de Fachadas Verdes Tradicionales (FVT), en los ambientes y superficies exteriores e interiores en ciudades de zonas áridas. Metodológicamente se desarrolló un ensayo experimental en condiciones controladas compuesto por tres muros de mampostería, dos de ellos con cobertura vegetal y uno sin ningún tipo de cobertura, todos ellos orientados al oeste y aislados al norte, sur y este. Se monitorearon variables meteorológicas —temperatura ambiente exterior e interior, y superficial exterior e interior— durante dos períodos de siete días en invierno y verano en 2021-2022. Los resultados obtenidos muestran variaciones de temperatura en los muros con cobertura vegetal respecto del muro testigo. Alcanzan magnitudes de aumento en invierno de temperatura ambiente interior de hasta 0.8 °C, reducciones en verano de hasta 4.4 °C y disminuciones de temperatura ambiente exterior media hasta 3.9 °C en la estación cálida. Esto muestra la efectividad de una estrategia de mínima complejidad tecnológica para mejorar el comportamiento térmico de los espacios y contribuir a la eficiencia energética residencial y la disminución de temperaturas a escala urbana en ciudades de clima árido. Este trabalho avalia o comportamento térmico sazonal das Fachadas Verdes Tradicionais (FVT), tanto nos ambientes como nas superfícies exteriores e interiores em cidades de zonas áridas. Metodologicamente foi desenvolvido um ensaio experimental em condições controladas composto por três paredes de alvenaria, duas delas com cobertura vegetal e uma sem qualquer tipo de cobertura, todas voltadas para oeste e isoladas ao norte, sul e leste. As variáveis meteorológicas —temperatura ambiente exterior e interior e temperatura exterior e interior da superfície— foram monitorizadas durante dois períodos de sete dias no inverno e no verão em 2021-2022. Os resultados obtidos mostram variações de temperatura nas paredes com cobertura vegetal em relação à parede de controle. Eles atingem magnitudes de aumento no inverno da temperatura ambiente interior de até 0,8 °C, reduções no verão de até 4,4 °C e diminuições da temperatura ambiente exterior média até 3,9 °C na estação quente. Isso mostra a eficácia de uma estratégia de mínima complexidade tecnológica para melhorar o comportamento térmico dos espaços e contribuir para a eficiência energética residencial e à redução das temperaturas em escala urbana em cidades com clima árido.
