In particular, the case of the Soto family is analyzed in terms of evidencing different features that allow it to be characterized as part of the local elites. Thus, the study of it is based on its relevance in local history and significant influence on the conformation and organization of Goya. Based on which, a historiographical analysis and a study of legal hermeneutics are carried out, which includes an unpublished private archive of the Soto family, which makes it possible to apprehend slavery socio-historically in the Corrientes subregion. In this way, a comparative analysis of the macro context of the time is carried out considering the non-Spanish and Spanish-American colonies. In general, in the United States and Brazil, the work of black slaves was predominantly linked to the economic exploitation of plantations. However, the trend allows us to establish a differentiation with respect to Latin America, where slavery was fundamentally urban and domestic. However, it cannot be ruled out that, to a lesser extent, other forms of slavery coexisted in both cases. In this framework, the analysis that goes from the general to the particular, the study of the characteristics of urban slavery, the economy and society in the Río de la Plata, in the Corrientes subregion and in the origins of the city of Goya. El artículo se referirá a las singularidades de la experiencia esclavista urbana en los entramados económicos y sociales a finales del siglo XVIII y principios del siglo XIX. En particular se analiza el caso de la familia Soto en función de evidenciar diferentes rasgos que permiten caracterizarla como parte de las élites locales. Así, su estudio se fundamenta en su relevancia en la historia local y significativa influencia en la conformación y organización de Goya. En función de lo cual se realiza un análisis historiográfico y un estudio de hermenéutica jurídica, que incluye un archivo privado inédito de la familia Soto, que posibilita aprehender socio-históricamente la esclavitud en la subregión correntina. De esta manera, se realiza un análisis comparativo del macro contexto de la época en consideración de las colonias no españolas e hispanoamericanas. En general, en Estados Unidos y Brasil el trabajo del esclavo/s negros/as se vinculó preponderantemente a la explotación económica de las plantaciones. Empero, la tendencia permite establecer una diferenciación respecto a Hispanoamérica, donde la esclavitud era fundamentalmente urbana y doméstica. No obstante, no se descarta que, en menor medida, coexistieron otras modalidades de esclavitud en ambos casos. En este marco, el análisis que va de lo general a lo particular, se sitúa el estudio de las características de la esclavitud urbana, la economía y sociedad en el Río de la Plata, en la subregión correntina y en los orígenes de la ciudad de Goya.
