Faced with this, Transportation Oriented Development - TOD - emerges as an urban design tool, based on high density, diversity of uses and adequate urban infrastructure around public transportation. The Cuenca tramway was taken as a case study, two of its stops and the surrounding areas were selected to analyze its urban dynamics using the TOD Standard methodology and its eight principles. This information was complemented with semi-structured interviews. The results evidenced different problems but also potentialities to turn it into a neighborhood oriented to public transport, through an urban project based on design strategies related to connectivity, densification, diversity of use and generation of public space. La falta de una adecuada planificación urbana fomenta una movilidad no sostenible. Frente a esto, el Desarrollo Orientado al Transporte (DOT) surge como una herramienta de diseño urbano, basada en la alta densidad, diversidad de usos y una infraestructura urbana adecuada en torno al transporte público. Se tomó el tranvía de Cuenca como caso de estudio, se seleccionaron dos de sus paradas y las zonas aledañas para analizar sus dinámicas urbanas mediante la metodología Estándar DOT y sus ocho principios, y se complementó esta información con entrevistas semiestructuradas. Los resultados evidenciaron distintas problemáticas, pero también potencialidades para convertirlo en un barrio orientado al transporte público, a través de un proyecto urbano basado en estrategias de diseño relacionadas con la conectividad, densificación, diversidad de uso y generación de espacio público. A falta de planejamento urbano adequado incentiva a mobilidade insustentável. Diante disso, o Desenvolvimento Orientado ao Transporte - DOT - surge como uma ferramenta de desenho urbano, baseada na alta densidade, diversidade de usos e infraestrutura urbana adequada em torno do transporte público. O bonde de Cuenca foi tomado como estudo de caso, duas de suas paradas e os arredores foram selecionados para analisar suas dinâmicas urbanas usando a metodologia Padrão DOT e seus oito princípios; essa informação foi complementada com entrevistas semiestruturadas. Os resultados evidenciaram diferentes problemas, mas também potencialidades para transformá-lo em um bairro orientado ao transporte público, por meio de um projeto urbano baseado em estratégias projetuais relacionadas à conectividade, adensamento, diversidade de uso e geração do espaço público.
