From this case of study, the objective of the work is to expose good and bad practices of planning to contribute with the railway challenges of other cities. The research has a mixed methodological approach with several techniques: documentary analysis, field work, key informant interviews and press survey results. The text introduces the problem and the background, explains the theoretical and methodological framework, develops the results of the case of Valladolid in a chronological way and discusses the results to conclude with some generalizable premises. Tras indagar experiencias urbanístico-ferroviarias en ciudades intermedias españolas, el artículo explora las vicisitudes de Valladolid en su proceso hacia la integración ferroviaria. A partir de ese caso de estudio, el objetivo del trabajo es exponer buenas y malas prácticas de ordenamiento, gestión y financiamiento para contribuir a los desafíos ferroviarios que enfrentan otras ciudades. La investigación tiene un enfoque metodológico mixto y emplea diversas técnicas: análisis documental, trabajo de campo, entrevistas a informantes clave y relevamiento de crónicas periodísticas. El texto introduce la problemática y el estado de la cuestión, explica el marco teórico-metodológico, desarrolla el estudio del caso de Valladolid en forma cronológica y discute los resultados para concluir con algunas premisas generalizables. Após investigar experiências urbano-ferroviárias em cidades intermediárias espanholas, o artigo explora as vicissitudes de Valladolid em seu processo de integração ferroviária. Com base neste estudo de caso, o objetivo do trabalho é expor boas e más práticas de ordenamento, gestão e financiamento para contribuir com os desafios ferroviários que outras cidades enfrentam. A pesquisa tem uma abordagem metodológica mista e utiliza várias técnicas: análise documental, trabalho de campo, entrevistas com informantes-chave e levantamento de crônicas jornalísticas. O texto apresenta o problema e o estado da questão, explica o quadro teórico-metodológico, desenvolve cronologicamente o estudo de caso de Valladolid e discute os resultados para concluir com algumas premissas generalizáveis.
