In the study of these problems, landscape analysis is positioned as an appropriate category since it allows the elements to be integrated under a systemic perspective. Through the analysis of the fluvial landscape it is possi ble to identify different units: patches, matrices and corridors for their subsequent characterization. The aim of this paper is to characterize the structure of the landscape of the Oro basin to recognize the distribution of plant species and how they influence runoff during flood episodes. The main results indicate that the typical vegetation of the Pampas grassland presents qualities that allow mitigating the effects of floods while the introduced tree species generate obstacles that increase the negative effects. La cuenca del Oro (Buenos Aires, Argentina) presenta una dinámica fluvial en la cual, ante eventos extremos de precipitación se producen crecidas que generan un impacto en la población. En el estudio de estas problemáticas el análisis del paisaje se posiciona como una categoría apropiada ya que permite integrar los elementos bajo una perspectiva sistémica. A través del análisis del paisaje fluvial es posible identificar diferentes unidades: parches, matrices y corredores para su posterior caracterización. El objetivo de este trabajo es caracterizar la estructura del paisaje de la cuenca del Oro para reconocer la distribución de las especies vegetales y cómo estas influyen en la escorrentía durante los episodios de crecidas. Los principales resultados indican que la vegetación típica del pastizal pampeano presenta cualidades que permiten mitigar los efectos de las crecidas mientras que las especies arbóreas introducidas generan obstáculos que incrementan los efectos negativos.
