It is proposed to examine the business of recyclable materials and the power struggles between the different social actors that coexist in the municipal property.   From direct observation and document review, the present study tries to highlight the particularities that make the dump a territory at risk and in dispute. Through in-depth interviews with key actors, we seek to know and understand the territorializing dynamics that originate from the ways in which garbage management is exercised, resisted and disputed. From what was studied, it is evident that the population that is dedicated to the recovery of recyclable materials lives in a situation of so-cial injustice, environmental vulnerability and labor informality. This chronic emergency situation demands priority on the public agenda from a perspective that reinforces the social component of sustainability. Results show that it is a priority to resolve the pre-existing conflicts in the territory linked to the informality of the commercialization of MSW to implement an inclusive and associated integral management for local sustainable development.
