Metodology included the review of several sources and english and spanish database such as Scielo, Pubmed, Google Academic and others (Epsco and Sci Verse). Selection criteria included key words that contained thermal stress in bovines and its impact on production in tropical regions, as well as its relationship with animal welfare.p> La presente revisión bibliográfica tuvo como objetivo recopilar información relevante sobre la activación del eje hipotálamo pituitario adrenal durante períodos de estrés en ganado bovino y su impacto en la producción, mediante distintas mediciones consignadas en la literatura. Ello incluyó biomarcadores sanguíneos y comportamentales, como el cortisol que a pesar de su variabilidad y corta vida media, aún conserva bastante validez. La metodología utilizada incluyó la revisión de diversas fuentes y bases de datos en idioma ingles y español, que van desde Scielo, Pubmed, Google Académico y otras como Epsco y Sci Verse. Los criterios fueron determinados por las palabras claves que hayan contenido estrés térmico en bovinos y su impacto en la producción a nivel de los trópicos, además de su relación con el bienestar animal.
