Sumario:Main features of the model are a primitive equation model with vertical mode initialization scheme and a semi-implicit time differencing. Physical processes such as surface fluxes of momentum, heat and moisture, large scale and convective precipitation, surface temperature diurnal cycle have been included. Four examples are given here, they were chosen because they show the forecasting capabilities of the model mainly in S South America. The first case is a blocking episode over the region, the second case of study is that of a typical summer configuration and the last two cases are frontal situations. In spite of limitations the prediction skill of the model was satisfactory.
