The R-matrix method applied to the SIBC for diffraction gratings of arbitrary profile

An alternative method combining the multilayer modal method (MMM), the R-matrix propagation algorithm and the surface impedance boundary condition (SIBC) is presented to solve the problem of diffraction from highly conducting gratings of arbitrary geometry. The problem is separated into the basic mo...

The problem is separated into the basic modes of polarization, both of them treated in the present paper. Numerical examples are shown to illustrate the method and comparisons with the results obtained using the exact boundary condition are provided. The agreement between both of them is shown to be quite good, in particular for materials with a high refraction index. Fil:Skigin, D.C. Universidad de Buenos Aires.
