These rocks are commonly associated in the area with weakly deformed Lower Palaeozoic sediments and metasedimentites considered to be isolated remains of larger depocentres like Chacoparanaense Basin. Cordillera Oriental and Sierra de Famatina. Geochemical and petrographical studies of both Lomas del Durazno and La Lidia rhyolites show close affinities with each other and provide the basis for correlation with Eopalaeozoic granitic porphyries and cale-alkaline granites of Sierra Norte de Córdoba. A K-Ar age of 526.9 ± 21 Ma from La Lidia rhyolites is in agreement with the structural and geochemical correlation which supports its association with the Brasilian tectomagmatic Cycle (Pampeano), the Cambrian Pre-Famatinian plutonism of Sierras de Córdoba, and contact metamorphism in La Clemira Formation of Ambargasta Hill.
