These species have been used in popular medicine mainly as sedative and tranquilizer. In this work P. edulis f. flavicarpa was studied. The phytochemical evaluation was carried out with the root extracts of P. edulis forma flavicarpa. From the dichloromethane fraction of the root extract one compound (T) was isolated and identified as the triterpenoid 3β, 16β - diacetoxyurs-12-ene. This compound is new for species of genus Passiflora. The structure was established on the basis of 1H- and 13C-NMR, DEPT, HETCOR, COSY and HMBC. Fil:Palermo, J.A. Universidad de Buenos Aires.
