The compound elicited a positive inotropism which was augmented in the presence of (-)-propranolol, subthreshold doses of methoxamine, as well as after a treatment with 6-OHDA. On the contrary subthreshold concentrations of norepinephrine or the presence of phentolamine decreased the augmenting inotropic effect of PGF2α. The results suggest that the action of PGF2α is apparently direct and not mediated by the release of the tissue catecholamines.
