description While existing literature acknowledges both positive and negative links between religion and sustainable consumption, the mechanisms underlying this relationship remain underexplored. Based on grounded theory, this research analyses religious consumers discourses and proposes a model centered on the core category of interconnectedness, which reflects a religiously grounded worldview that informs consumption through cognitive, moral, emotional, and social dimensions, motives and mechanisms. Whether through the cognitive awareness of interdependence; the moral imperatives to care for creation; the emotional engagement thought awe, wonder, compassion and guilt and the social bonds they foster within communities to achieve collective actions, all converge to shape a relational mindset to sustainable living. The study offers a theoretical contribution by framing interconnectedness as a construct for understanding religious influence on sustainable lifestyles. It also provides practical implications for environmental education, suggesting that approaches rooted in religious worldviews may strengthen commitment to sustainability through integrated cognitive, moral, emotional, and social pathways.

Si bien la literatura especializada ha identificado vínculos tanto positivos como negativos entre la religión y el consumo sostenible, los mecanismos que explican dicha relación han sido escasamente abordados. Este estudio, basado en la teoría fundamentada, analiza los discursos de consumidores religiosos y propone un modelo interpretativo centrado en la categoría de interconexión. Esta categoría expresa una cosmovisión de raíz religiosa que orienta las prácticas de consumo a partir de dimensiones cognitivas, morales, emocionales y sociales, así como de los motivos y mecanismos que las sostienen. La toma de conciencia sobre la interdependencia, los imperativos éticos de cuidado de la creación, las vivencias emocionales vinculadas al asombro, la compasión, la maravilla o la culpa, junto con los vínculos comunitarios que favorecen la acción colectiva, se articulan en una lógica relacional que promueve estilos de vida sostenibles. Desde el plano teórico, el estudio contribuye a conceptualizar la interconexión como una categoría clave para comprender la influencia de la religión en las prácticas sostenibles. En términos prácticos, plantea implicancias relevantes para la educación ambiental, al señalar que las propuestas formativas ancladas en cosmovisiones religiosas pueden fortalecer el compromiso con la sostenibilidad mediante trayectorias integradas que articulan lo cognitivo, lo ético, lo afectivo y lo social. Embora a literatura existente reconheça as ligações positivas e negativas entre religião e consumo sustentável, os mecanismos subjacentes a essa relação permanecem pouco explorados. Com base na teoria fundamentada, esta pesquisa analisa os discursos dos consumidores religiosos e propõe um modelo centrado na categoria central da interconexão, que reflete uma visão de mundo com base religiosa que informa o consumo por meio de dimensões, motivos e mecanismos cognitivos, morais, emocionais e sociais. Seja por meio da consciência cognitiva da interdependência, dos imperativos morais para cuidar da criação, do engajamento emocional, da admiração, da maravilha, da compaixão e da culpa e dos laços sociais que eles promovem nas comunidades para realizar ações coletivas, todos convergem para moldar uma mentalidade relacional para uma vida sustentável. O estudo oferece uma contribuição teórica ao enquadrar a interconexão como uma construção para compreender a influência religiosa em estilos de vida sustentáveis. Também traz implicações práticas para a educação ambiental, sugerindo que abordagens baseadas em visões de mundo religiosas podem fortalecer o compromisso com a sustentabilidade por meio de caminhos cognitivos, morais, emocionais e sociais integrados.
