A partir de una investigación etnográfica, el trabajo examina las dinámicas entre voluntariado, asistencia y materialidad, enfocándose en cómo se configuran los vínculos entre quienes brindan y reciben ayuda. MS se presenta como una ONG apartidaria y profesionalizada, que combina eficiencia técnica con sensibilidad social. La investigación destaca cómo la construcción de los módulos sanitarios no solo responde a una necesidad básica, sino que también implica una dimensión simbólica y política: transformar el entorno, y visibilizar la importancia de la temática de no tener un baño. La tesis problematiza el lugar de esta organización en contextos de desigualdad estructural y reflexiona sobre los límites y posibilidades de estas iniciativas, que adoptan lógicas estatales sin pertenecer al Estado. A lo largo del trabajo, se incorporan reflexiones sobre el rol del voluntariado, las estrategias comunicacionales, la construcción de sentido en torno a la ayuda y la centralidad de la materialidad en las intervenciones marcadas por la urgencia y lo humano. Se propone entender estas prácticas como formas localizadas de humanitarismo, aportando a los debates sobre intervención social y solidaridad. This thesis analyzes the humanitarian practices of the organization Módulo Sanitario (MS), which builds bathrooms in low-income neighborhoods in the outskirts of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Based on ethnographic research, the study examines the dynamics between volunteerism, assistance, and materiality, focusing on how relationships between those who provide and those who receive aid are configured. MS presents itself as a non-partisan and professionalized NGO that combines technical efficiency with social sensitivity. The research highlights how the construction of sanitary modules not only addresses a basic need but also carries symbolic and political dimensions: transforming the environment and making visible the relevance of lacking access to a bathroom. The thesis problematizes the role of this organization within contexts of structural inequality and reflects on the limits and possibilities of such initiatives, which adopt state-like logics without being part of the state. Throughout the work, reflections are incorporated on the role of volunteers, communication strategies, the construction of meaning around aid, and the centrality of materiality in interventions shaped by urgency and human experience.
