El abordaje de pacientes con enfermedades poco frecuentes (EPF) es complejo debido a que se involucran cuestiones éticas que no sólo se relacionan con el ámbito de la salud sino también con el ámbito familiar, social, psicológico y financiero, así como con situaciones vinculadas a la inserción educativa o laboral y a la toma de decisiones reproductivas. Este estudio tiene por objetivo general describir el estado de arte de investigaciones para EPF y desde allí conocer dilemas y conflictos éticos frente a estas condiciones y las vulnerabilidades que se presentan a los pacientes que las padecen y a sus familiares. Estrategia metodológica: revisión de literatura en base a datos disponibles online. La investigación para EPF plantea desafíos éticos para los investigadores y los comités de ética en investigación, mientras la asistencia de EPF plantea dilemas éticos para los gestores de salud, los formuladores de políticas públicas, las prepagas, las obras sociales, el equipo de especialistas tratante y comités de ética asistenciales. Rare diseases (RD) are thus defined by their low prevalence in the general population. The approach to patients with EPF is complex because it involves issues that are not only related to the health field but also to the family, social, psychological and financial environment and to situations related to educational and / or labor insertion or to reproductive decision making. The general objective of this study is to describe the state of the art of research for EPF and from there to learn about ethical dilemmas and conflicts in the face of these conditions and the vulnerabilities that are presented to patients who suffer from them and their families. Methodological strategy: literature review based on data available online.
