En este trabajo analizamos la alfarería de diversos conjuntos pertenecientes a la Tradición Tupiguaraní en Argentina, con el objetivo de profundizar el estudio de la variabilidad en la producción y el empleo de este material y de la decoración de la cerámica arqueológica guaraní en nuestro país. Los resultados señalan que la mayor parte de la cerámica está decorada, ya sea por medio de la aplicación de pintura o de las terminaciones plásticas, siendo esto especialmente marcado en las colecciones procedentes de la provincia de Misiones. Con los datos disponibles, se sostiene que la alfarería guaraní muestra un alto grado de estandarización formal, siguiendo estrictas reglas de proporción, tratamiento de la superficie y decoración, dando cuenta de la recurrencia de técnicas compartidas en la elaboración de los artefactos cerámicos a través de largos períodos de tiempo y a una escala sub-continental. Sin embargo, el análisis de las proporciones en las que aparecen aplicadas las diferentes técnicas de tratamiento de superficie podría ser una vía interesante para observar variantes regionales dentro de esta unidad arqueológica. In this paper we analyze the pottery of various assemblages belonging to the Tupiguaraní Tradition in Argentina, with the aim of gaining a better understanding of variability in the production and use of pottery and the decoration of the guarani archaeological ceramics in our country. The results indicate that most of pottery is decorated, either through the application of paint or plastic finishes, this being especially marked in the collections from the province of Misiones. With the data available, it is argued that guarani pottery shows a high degree of formal standardization, following strict rules of proportion, surface treatment and decoration, accounting for the recurrence of shared techniques in the elaboration of ceramic artifacts through long periods of time and on a sub-continental scale.
