Los conflictos bélicos han resurgido y, pues, la relectura de la palabra de Juan XXIII resulta ineludible ya sea por la convocatoria del Concilio Vaticano II así como por sus encíclicas que representan un hito en el desarrollo de la Doctrina Social de la Iglesia. Este trabajo – que se enmarca en un proyecto mayor de investigación sobre la concepción de la paz (Proyecto IUS- UCA) - pretende abrir un espacio de reflexión y colaborar con la concientización sobre la paz universal a partir del estudio de los deberes del hombre en Pacem in terris. La elección de este aspecto en particular – los deberes – se justifica (más allá de ocupar un lugar central en la encíclica), desde la convicción sobre la necesidad de revalorizar su cumplimiento y reforzar el compromiso con la dignidad humana, como camino hacia la paz. A ello se agrega que este año se conmemoran 60 años de la publicación de dicho documento. In these increasingly complex and conflictive times, limits, nature — and thus, peace — are constantly challenged. War conflicts have resurfaced and, therefore, the rereading of John XXIII ́s words is unavoidable, either for the convocation of the Second Vatican Council or for his encyclicals, that represent a milestone in the development of the Church ́s social doctrine. This work — which is part of a larger research project on the conception of peace (IUS Project - Catholic University of Argentina) — aims to open a space for reflection and to collaborate with the awareness of universal peace from the study of the duties of man in Pacem in terris. The choice of this particular aspect – duties – is justified (beyond occupying a central place in the encyclical), from the conviction of the need to revalue its fulfillment and reinforce the commitment to human dignity, as a path to peace.
