The forms of writing in the media are as important as the content or the search for information. For journalists and the media, choosing which genre to follow to inform their readers is highly relevant because they are deciding not only what they are going to know but how they are going to know it. Writing a news item, an interview or a report on the same event is a choice with different purposes and demands different attitudes from the receiver, in addition to the fact that each of these types of texts have different structures. Reading a piece of news, the reader is quickly informed about the fact by answering the question: what?, who?, when?, where?; With an interview, on the other hand, he knows the participants in the event in depth, and with a report he delves deeper in every way by providing this genre with more information. For almost two centuries, the written press used the traditional journalistic genres -informative and opinion-, with newspapers and magazines as the centers of attention, until the Internet arrived. His arrival caused a social change within which the way of reading and the media were not exempt. The reading of the news was directed towards the digital support, which offers multiple ways to inform. The traditional paper press was forced to incorporate multiplatforms. It was a 360 degree challenge. Media owners remodeled their business, and newsrooms found themselves inserted in a digital world that allows combining the classic -writing, video and audio- with the new: hyper-connectivity, interaction, immediacy by seconds, the sharpness to find something new in the extensive information tangle. For editors and journalists, the change also included writing tools and that gave rise to the debate on journalistic genres: are traditional journalistic genres still valid in the digital world? Has a new classification emerged? Or, in any case, were the historical genres only expanded and enriched to take full advantage of the digital? As never before, digitization highlighted three elements in the press: informative intentionality, adaptation of information to different supports, and platform monetization. A portion of that debate is what this research tries to address starting from a review of the journalistic genres or the way of writing of the Informate Salta and El Tribuno media in their digital format. |
