Both works discuss topics such as social criticism, gothic horror, good and evil or the loss of beauty. La inquietud por el paso del tiempo y la necesidad de mantener la eterna juventud son temáticas sobre las que se ha reflexionado en diversos medios de expresión. En el presente artículo se analizan estas cuestiones y su evolución en un contexto gótico a través del clásico literario El retrato de Dorian Gray (1890), de Oscar Wilde, y La sustancia (2024), una cinta cinematográfica dirigida por Coralie Fargeat. Ambas obras abarcan temáticas comunes como los límites entre el bien y el mal, la pérdida de la belleza, la crítica social o el terror gótico. Universidad Nacional del Nordeste.
