Sumario:The concern about the passage of time and the desire of eternal youth are themes that have caused interest in all means of expression. This article analyzes these transcendental questions and the Gothic evolution of them through the classic novel The picture of Dorian Gray (1890), by Oscar Wilde, and The Substance (2024), a film directed by Coralie Fargeat. Both works discuss topics such as social criticism, gothic horror, good and evil or the loss of beauty.
