| Sumario: | Los Acantilados, Alfar and Bosque Peralta Ramos forest reserves, located in the southern peri-urban area of Mar del Plata city (Argentina), present diverse socio-environmental problems that challenge the relationship between trees and their surroundings. This article analyzes these problems based on the imaginaries of residents and visitors to these areas. Based on the analysis of 271 virtual surveys and 24 semi-structured interviews conducted with these groups, it can be observed the presence of imaginaries related to suburban life that influence the perception of the problems studied. Forestry issues are often considered less important than other urban problems, primarily in relation to the provision of public services. This invites to think about the role of trees for the groups studied and the effect of urban growth on the forest reserves addressed. |
