| Sumario: | Argentine President Javier Milei's speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos sparked outstanding public debate, particularly due to his radical critique of both the so-called "woke" ideology and the progressive agenda. This paper offers a socio-semiotic analysis of the speech from Eliseo Verón's perspective, assessing both its conditions of production and recognition. It examines the discursive strategies used to construct the object of "wokeism" and analyzes the responses and resignifications that emerged from various social and political sectors. The study aims to shed light on the debate over the meaning surrounding this concept and its impact on the configuration of today’s political and social context. |
