Paleobotánica Paleozoología Argentina Paraguay Uruguay Palaeobotany Palaeozoology Argentina Paraguay Uruguay Professor Dr. Rafael Herbst (1936-2017) was a fundamental in the development of Geology and Paleontology in the Corrientes province, Argentina. His work in the academic field of FaCENA-UNNE was notable. He was a promoter of the FACENA journal, whose contributions were essential for the development of the journal, and they also substantially contributed to the scientific advancement of Corrientes and Argentina. He wrote one of the most important chapters in paleontology with the creation of the Programa de Investigaciones Geológicas y Paleontológicas (PRINGEPA-CONICET), which was incorporated in 1999 into the Centro de Ecología Aplicada del Litoral (CECOAL-CONICET-UNNE), Corrientes, Argentina. To highlight his legacy, this contribution offers a brief bibliographical review of the works published in the FACENA journal, covering topics of Geology, Paleobotany, and Paleozoology in Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay. Additionally, his work in the training of human resources in the academic and scientific fields is highlighted, establishing various lines of research. El Prof. Dr. Rafael Herbst (1936-2017) fue fundamental en el desarrollo de la Geología y la Paleontología en la provincia de Corrientes, Argentina. Fue destacada su labor en el ámbito académico de la FaCENA-UNNE. Fue un impulsor de la revista FACENA, cuyas contribuciones fueron esenciales para el desarrollo de la revista, además, contribuyeron sustancialmente para el avance científico de Corrientes y de Argentina. Escribió una de las páginas más importantes de la paleontología con la creación del Programa de Investigaciones Geológicas y Paleontológicas (PRINGEPA-CONICET), incorporado en 1999 al Centro de Ecología Aplicada del Litoral (CECOAL-CONICET-UNNE), Corrientes, Argentina. Para resaltar su legado, esta contribución ofrece una breve reseña bibliográfica de los trabajos publicados en la revista FACENA, abarcando temas de Geología, Paleobotánica y Paleozoología en Argentina, Brasil, Paraguay y Uruguay. Además, se destaca su labor en la formación de recursos humanos en el ámbito académico y científico, estableciendo diversas líneas de investigación.
