| Sumario: | Professor Dr. Rafael Herbst (1936-2017) was a fundamental in the development of Geology and Paleontology in the Corrientes province, Argentina. His work in the academic field of FaCENA-UNNE was notable. He was a promoter of the FACENA journal, whose contributions were essential for the development of the journal, and they also substantially contributed to the scientific advancement of Corrientes and Argentina. He wrote one of the most important chapters in paleontology with the creation of the Programa de Investigaciones Geológicas y Paleontológicas (PRINGEPA-CONICET), which was incorporated in 1999 into the Centro de Ecología Aplicada del Litoral (CECOAL-CONICET-UNNE), Corrientes, Argentina. To highlight his legacy, this contribution offers a brief bibliographical review of the works published in the FACENA journal, covering topics of Geology, Paleobotany, and Paleozoology in Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay. Additionally, his work in the training of human resources in the academic and scientific fields is highlighted, establishing various lines of research. |
