Sumario:This article conducts a comparative analysis of the production of informal urban space and expansion logics in three peripheral neighborhoods of La Plata, with the aim of identifying similarities, differences, and factors shaping their trajectories. Methodologically, it adopts an explanatory–comparative design with a mixed-methods approach: fieldwork (observation, interviews), photo-reading and interpretation of satellite imagery, and the production of thematic cartography. The findings reveal differentiated modes of land occupation (occupation of residual industrial land, block-by-block expansion, and dispersed settlement); heterogeneous degrees of consolidation, with progressive densification and variable community organization; persistent deficits in infrastructure and basic services; and growth patterns conditioned by land availability, accessibility, and political-regulatory frameworks. Finally, the article discusses implications for socio-urban integration policies, providing evidence to inform planning and management in contemporary Argentine urban peripheries.
