| Sumario: | In the last decade, there has been a significant increase in the number of cases of intimate partner violence in Argentina and there is a general agreement that an adequate risk evaluation allows taking adequate protection and safety measures for the victims, while preventing revictimization. The objective was to validate the Predictor Scale for Risk of Serious Intimate Partner Violence Revised (EPV-R). The EPV-R was applied to 203 women victims of gender violence who were users of a public assistance center on the Atlantic coast of Argentina. The criterion validity, internal consistency, sensitivity and specificity of the instrument to effectively discriminate cases of severe violence from non-serious cases were determined. The internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha=0.79), discriminative ability (p=<.001) and sensitivity (84.8%) and specificity (81.1%) can be considered adequate, with a cut-off point of 22 points out of a total of 45. Although analyses of convergent validity with other instruments and a larger sample are needed, the psychometric properties obtained suggest that the scale would be suitable for local use by professionals who assist victims of gender violence for the purpose of planning appropriate preventive interventions and choosing protective measures, especially in cases of high risk. |
